Visual Artist Zadi

Cape Verdean-American visual artist Shaharazad "Zadi" Arteaga, was born and raised in New Bedford, Massachusetts. At the age of 9, she began her training in hopes of becoming a professional ballet dancer and violist. She studied at the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music. Here, she trained with some of the best professors and danced alongside the Kentucky Ballet Theatre. Zadi continues to be influenced by her artistic family and diverse culture.

Due to injuries and mental setbacks, her dance career came to an abrupt ending. She struggled to fill her only outlet to art form and creativity. In 2015, she was gifted a sketchbook and instantly indulged in animated fantasies. She began doodling as way to self-express.

This served as a pivotal moment in Zadi’s career path. Not only did she find an outlet, but she stumbled upon her new-born passion.

She moved to Miami seven years ago, where she immersed herself into fashion, her sketches and the creative scene; igniting exactly who she was. She saw all the possibilities. Zadi no longer was conforming to societal norms. She was on a mission to find her true calling. Through self-discovery, she came to terms with the fact that her drawings were it.

Zadi's art stands for evolution and self-awareness, as she began to relinquish control in many aspects of her life. This left Zadi a little more vulnerable. Pulling from African and Asian influences, Zadi fuses dance, movement and fashion, creating her unique artistic style. Her designs are a clear depiction of who she is, what she embodies and who she has evolved into.

She currently resides in Miami, Florida where she launched her successful debut series, “Soulpiens.” A self-explorative approach to the definition of a “Soul Being.”

In the future, her dream is to bring her drawings to life through animation and other forms of digital art, and is eager to explore different mediums.

10-Day Return Policy

Orders can only be returned within 10 days of the date in which it was delivered. Refund will be processed after we have received the order in “as new” condition.
